On November 12, 2024, the biology and ecology department of Vasyl Stefanyk
Precarpathian National University will host open lectures by candidate of biological sciences,
associate professor of Zoology Department of Ivan Franko Lviv National University, WWF-
Ukraine expert Ihor Dykyy.
Ihor Dykyy is a well-known zoologist-teriologist in Ukraine and abroad, the author of
numerous publications devoted to the biology and ecology of mammals, the population,
species and ecosystem diversity of Antarctica. Ihor Dykyy is a participant in 4 Ukrainian
Antarctic expeditions to the Akademik Vernadskyi station, three of which are full-year
(winter) expeditions. The scientist is the author of more than 250 publications, including 8
monographs, 1 handbook, 3 tutorials, more than 111 articles and 119 abstracts of reports at
international and Ukrainian conferences.
With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia, from the first days he joined the ranks
of the 125th brigade of the Territorial Defense Brigade, and later – in the Ground Forces of
Ukraine. He fought for more than two years against the russian invaders, protecting the
peaceful life of Ukraine and its citizens. He is a war veteran.
On November 12, 2024, candidate of biological sciences, associate professor Ihor Dykyy will
give two lectures at the Department of Biology and Ecology:
– Climate changes through the eyes of a polar explorer at the Antarctic station "Akademik
Vernadskyi";
– Animals and their habitats in Ukraine against the background of military operations.
