PhD, Associate Professor
Entomologist, |
My current research focuses on the development biology and microhabitat ecology of hoverflies (Diptera, Syrphidae). Hoverflies species are very important pollinators and bio-indicators of environmental conditions and to demonstrate the effects of climate change.
Additionally, I am interested in the ecology and the larval feeding modes of hoverflies to explore possible evolutionary scenarios for these extremely diverse flies. I am also interested in phylogenetic and phylogenomic of insects in general.
In addition, I am interested in invasive alien species of animals that are causing extinctions of native plants and animals, reducing biodiversity, competing with native organisms for limited resources, and altering habitats.
